The FreeBite classic (formerly FreeBite comfort) offers a classic shape in which the bite cushions are connected by a surrounding tube. In contrast to the FreeBite medium or high, this shape can hardly be moved on the teeth, and the bite pads are held between the teeth by the cheeks, as with other classic bite cushions.
When inserted into the lower jaw, the pads usually extend to the second molars in normal jaw sizes. In the upper jaw, they are positioned further forward – ideal for smaller jaws.
Since the FreeBite classic does not extend as far back as the FreeBite medium and high and does not have a wedge shape, patients usually get used to it more quickly. The vertical height is approximately the same as the FreeBite medium.
The FreeBite classic is available in two fillings:
-
air: Compressible air for flexible, springy support.
-
gel: Liquid filling for stable, firmer support.
Also available in two shell variants:
-
soft: Soft bite sensation.
-
solid: Firm bite sensation.
PLEASE NOTE: Due to production reasons, the FreeBite classic in the "air" version – especially in combination with the "soft" cover – may exhibit slight variations in the height of the bite pads. As a result, these versions may tend to be slightly higher than the "gel"-filled classic models. The manufacturing process is continuously optimized to further reduce these variations in the future and ensure an even more uniform design.
We recommend starting with short wearing times of approx. 15 minutes to get used to the FreeBite. The lifespan depends primarily on how often it is worn, how long it is worn for, and the bite force exerted. Wearing it at night can shorten its lifespan, as bite force cannot be controlled during sleep. The FreeBite is only suitable to a limited extent for patients who clench or grind their teeth heavily. The FreeBite should not be used if you have a disturbed swallowing or gag reflex.
