The FreeBite medium was developed to provide the most efficient relief possible for compressed jaw joints and to release tense masticatory muscles. The bite cushions can be moved around on the lower dental arch and can therefore be positioned by the patient in such a way that symmetrical posterior contact is achieved, even if the dental arches are asymmetrical.
The patented shape of the FreeBite medium, with its slightly wedge-shaped design, ensures that the molars make contact first, thus providing particularly efficient compensation for temporomandibular joint compression, which is present in most TMD patients.
Electromyographic measurements demonstrate the efficiency of these bite cushions, making them well suited for immediate preparation of bite registrations.
The FreeBite medium is available in two fillings:
-
air: Compressible air for flexible, springy support.
-
gel: Liquid filling for stable, firmer support.
Also available in two shell variants:
-
soft: Soft bite sensation.
-
solid: Firm bite sensation.
Please note: We recommend starting with short wearing times of approx. 15 minutes to get used to the FreeBite. The lifespan depends primarily on how often it is worn, how long it is worn for, and the bite force exerted. Wearing it at night can shorten its lifespan, as bite force cannot be controlled during sleep. The FreeBite is only suitable to a limited extent for patients who clench or grind their teeth heavily. The FreeBite should not be used if you have a disturbed swallowing or gag reflex.
