The Pitch Corrector can be ordered in two variants:
Upgrade Set: For Hip_Mount Series 7 and 8, including the new table and fences
Expansion Set: For new HIP-Mounts Series 8 which already came with the new tables
The Pitch Corrector is mounted inbetween the inner column of the HIP-Mount and the table and allows the table to be adjustable around it's transverse axis. This permits the correction of the reference plane in this dimension while the upper cast is being mounted, but also opens other possibilities.
If another reference plane around the transverse axis is desired, the angle of the difference can simply be set with the Pitch Corrector during cast mounting. For instance, if the angle between the occlusal plane and the horizontal is determined on a transverse cephalogram, the casts can be mounted to orient the occlusal plane towards the horizontal plane in the same angle. A natural head position can also be easily implemented now:
-
A mounting record is taken using the HeadLines as usual and the patient holds that to the upper teeth by biting on cotton rolls which are placed beneath the bitefork of the HeadLines
-
The center crossbars are removed from the HeadLines so that the patient has an unobstructed field of vision
-
The patient now looks at a point at the level of the eyes directly in front, or looks himself in the eyes in a mirror placed directly in front. Since nothing is touching the face or head, the headposition can freely adjust itself.
-
A profile picture is taken. A reference to the horizontal should be visible in the background.
-
The angle between the horizontal plane and the horizontal side bar of the HeadLines is measured in the picture
-
The same angle is entered in the Pitch Corrector upon cast mounting.

The inner column which the Pitch Corrector is mounted on, is only contained in HIP-Mounts series 7 and 8 (starting 2007). Earlier HIP-Mounts cannot be upgraded with the Pitch Corrector. If you own one of these and would like to use the Pitch Corrector, please contact us for an individual offer for a new HIP-Mount!
The table of the HIP-Mount must have the additional holes along the midline. If yours does not have those, you will need the upgrade set with a new table. In the future all new HIP-Mounts will be fitted with these tables and then only the expansion set is needed in order to equip those with the Pitch Corrector.
