Adhesive electrodes set
The ideal electrodes for the stimulation of the chewing muscles for the practice
The optimal point for stimulating the chewing muscles is above the incisura semilunaris of the lower jaw. This acts like a conductive window through which masticatory muscles and their motor nerves can be stimulated, allowing the relaxation of deep muscles that typically maintain temporomandibular joint compression, especially in CMD.
The smaller the electrodes here are, the more selectively the masticatory muscles supplied by the 5th head nerve can be treated without unnecessarily stimulating the mimic muscles of the facial nerve, which can lead to discomfort that impairs the patient's willingness to cooperate.
However, such small self-adhesive electrodes adhere poorly and regularly fall off during therapy. The solution is provided by this specially developed electrode set, in which the small stimulation electrodes have a good adhesive edge. They are placed in such a way that the dark conductive surface between the condylar process and the muscularis lies on the ascending branch of the lower jaw (approx. 1 finger's breadth before the tragus) and slightly overlaps the zygomatic bone.
The collecting electrode is equipped with two connection sockets and is placed in the middle of the neck immediately below the hairline. On devices with biphasic asymmetrical impulse shape, the blue plugs are connected to the lateral therapy electrodes and the red plugs to the collecting electrode. On devices with biphasically symmetrical impulse shape, there are no poles and one plug on each side is simply connected to the lateral therapy electrode and the other to the neck electrode.
Since the neck electrode is large enough to adhere well, there is no adhesive edge here. Before applying the electrodes, the skin should be cleaned of grease and makeup, preferably with a swab or tissue soaked in alcohol.
2 electrode sets per packaging unit
The adhesion of the adhesive edge decreases strongly after the first use, therefore these electrodes are only conditionally reusable.
The electrodes have connection sockets for 2 mm plugs and cannot be used with cables with push-button connection!
