STIMEX adhesive electrodes Ø 32 round
Reusable electrodes for stimulation of the masticatory muscles.
32 mm is the smallest diameter for reusable gel electrodes that provides satisfactory adhesion. In principle, small electrodes should be preferred wherever selective stimulation is required, as is the case in chewing muscle therapy. The optimal point for stimulating the masticatory muscles is above the incisura semilunaris of the lower jaw. This acts as a conductive window through which masticatory muscles and their motor nerves can be stimulated, allowing the relaxation of deep muscles that typically maintain temporomandibular joint compression, especially in CMD.
The smaller the electrodes here are, the more selectively the masticatory muscles supplied by the 5th head nerve can be treated without unnecessarily stimulating the mimic muscles of the facial nerve, which can lead to discomfort that impairs the patient's willingness to cooperate.
The conductive surface of the STIMEX 32 mm round electrodes is significantly larger than that of our special set for the masticatory muscles, but still small enough to be suitable for use here as well. You are also not tied to an electrode set and can combine the round electrodes with our 50x50 mm electrodes, for example, which you place on the trapezius, so that four muscle groups can be treated simultaneously with a 2-channel device. For devices with polarized biphasic asymmetric pulses, the blue plug is connected to the 32 mm round electrode, the red one to the electrode on the trapezius. If this contracts too much at the intensity required to treat the masticatory muscles, simply place the 50 mm electrodes two finger widths outside the optimum point.
Application of the STIMEX electrodes:
Cleanse the skin at the place intended for the electrode, remove grease, make-up and creams. It is best to rub with a swab soaked in alcohol.
Lift the electrode from the backing foil and remove it. DO NOT PULL THE CABLE!
Place electrode on the cleaned skin and press for 5-10 seconds. DO NOT PLACE ON OPEN WOUNDS!
Electrode position for therapy of the masticatory muscles: rear edge at the front edge of the tragus, upper edge overlaps the zygomatic bone slightly.
After use, remove the electrode from the skin and immediately place it back on the backing sheet. Then place the foil back into the bag and close the bag. DO NOT USE ELECTRODES ON DIFFERENT PATIENTS!
4 electrodes per packaging unit
The electrodes have connection sockets for 2 mm plugs and cannot be used with cables with push-button connection!
